How many times have you approached someone with an opportunity to enhance their health or their families health and they tell you they are too busy or money is tight right now? Since I've started selling my own product as well as starting a Multi Line Marketing business as a Distributor with Young Living, I hear this all the time. I also thought that living healthy was too expensive, until I really started to look at the breakdown of costs. While I am not saying Western Medicine should be abandoned, I am suggesting supplementing it with natural and holistic practices.
When I started on this toxic-free journey several years ago I was very sick, both mentally and physically. I had several chronic pain issues (fibromyalgia and sarcoidosis), I was sleeping all the time, angry with everything, started most of my sentences with "I hate...", and I was just not happy. I was spending several hundred dollars a month between pharmaceuticals and over the counter medicines, co-pays to visit the various doctors, not to mention all the missed work because I just didn't feel well. I finally decided something had to change.
In 2011 I joined several Facebook groups for fibro and found that most didn't want to address the core issue, until I found "Foods for Fibromyalgia" created by Dr. Deirdre Rawlings. It was on this page that I learned how to focus my energy on getting well and to stop focusing on how bad I felt. I learned that food is one of the most powerful medicines, if used correctly. How many of you know what a nightshade is? How many of you know that tomatos are a nightshade but cherry tomatos are not? I had never heard of GMO's until I started researching information I found on Dr. Dee's Facebook page and in her books. I trusted that what I was buying at the grocery and what was being prescribed for me by my doctors were safe for me. I started educating myself on the difference between organic and natural foods. What is Non-GMO project verified and GMO free. That is a completely separate article that I will tackle in the coming months.
While on this journey to be a cleaner consumer, I also learned how toxic our household products are. In early 2017, I attended at Toxic-free cleaning class to learn how to make bathroom cleaner, toilet bombs, laundry detergent, furniture polish, carpet deodorizer and an all around household cleaner, put on by my friend at T. E Freeman Studio. I had been hesitant to go to one of her "Make and Take" classes, because it was time consuming and just to attend I had to pay $25. I finally justified that monetary cost to myself saying, "If she can teach me how to make my own product, that will save me at least $75 at the grocery every month.". The following week, I attended a free "Young Living Essential Oil 101" class. It was there that I fell in love with essential oils and I have not looked back!! Now, the only things I purchase at the grocery store are my paper products and food.
At the end of the day, I have removed an estimated $800 a month in pharmaceuticals, $200 a month in household cleaning and over the counter products and I have not had to pay a medical co-pay in 5 years. I feel better, I am happier and I actually want to live my life! Who doesn't have time for that?! I have worked hard making my life better and healthier by choosing better food and household cleaning products. I would love for you to join me on the journey!
